NERALLT 2020

October 2nd and 3rd, 2020

Harvard University, Cambridge, MA

Hosted by The Language Center at Harvard University

Theme: Language Learning Communities

 Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 2020

While language resource centers provide a dedicated space for fostering language learning and cultural understanding, how can we leverage technologies to create actual language learning communities? How might these communities promote authentic communication, expand the language learning context (socioeconomic, geographic, diasporic) and foster participation in existing communities and/or the creation of new ones? How can language resource centers and language faculty help students recognize that learning a language gives them access to and membership in a wider community?

NERALLT 2020 invites conference proposals that discuss projects, ideas, and initiatives that leverage learning technologies to engage students in Language Learning Communities in the following formats:

• 30 -minute Individual/Group Presentation

• Roundtable Discussion or Panel (30 minutes, maximum of 3 presenters + 15 min Q & A)

• (Electronic) Poster Session

• Workshop (1-2 hours, hands-on)

• Lightning Round Session (10- minute presentation followed by facilitated group discussion)

Guidelines for Proposals: Please submit a 300-word abstract and a 50-word summary for the program at https://bit.ly/2vuQHkY

Presentation titles should not exceed ten words. Only one abstract submission per person, but a presenter may appear as a co-author (but not the first author) on other submitted abstracts. An author may also submit another proposal in an additional category (e.g., a poster or a workshop).
